Training for ages 15-18 years

About the Programme
Almost all industries and careers need the computing knowledge and skills that this programme provides and it is therefore an excellent preparation for any career. It is a self-paced and tutor-directed training programme which will enable students to develop a computing qualification that reflects their skills and life interests.

  • This programme offers two pathways. Students may choose an information technology focus (Level 2) or a computer technology focus (Level 2 and 3).
  • Level 2 students will be introduced to computers, operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Level 3 students will learn about computer hardware, software installation, basic networking principles, and intermediate-level word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Students also do research and presentation, helping to build their confidence in their own abilities to find information and communicate it with others.
  • After completion, students will be able to utilize Microsoft Office applications up to intermediate level. They will also have attained technical and theoretical proficiency on computer hardware and software, networking, computer assembly and diagnostics.
  • Work-ready students will be assisted to gain work experience during training.
  • Upon completion of the training all students will be assisted with obtaining a job and/or accessing further training.
